My hero: Mark Moskowitz

So a guy buys a book in the early 1970's but never reads it. The book moves with him from adolescence into manhood. He gets married, has kids, tries reading the book several times. About to throw it out, he tries one more time, and for whatever reason, devours the book. Stones of Summer, written by Dow Mossman becomes one of his favorite books. Yet when he goes to Amazon to buy the other books from this amazing author, he finds none. In fact, he can't find any info on Dow Mossman at all. So he takes his camera and films his odyssey of seeking after Dow Mossman.

The film is called The Stone Reader, and is well worth your time, especially if you love books. At some point the film becomes less about Dow Mossman and more about the power of books and their authors. This becomes Mark Moskowitz' opus film, and will remind you of the power of words and images in the life of everyman.
